Performed on 19 February 2020, Gangsters is an offbeat production blending the world of the musical Chicago with that of the iconic French cult film “Crooks in Clover”. It all begins with the death of the Mexican, the leader of a gang of gangsters. The established order is thrown into chaos, and Madame Fernand takes control of the business. But establishing herself as the new boss proves far from easy. Between settling old scores, missing money, shoot-outs and ambitious members of the gang, power is far more fragile than it seems. In this world, where no one trusts anyone, Velma Kelly, a ruthless killer and Mario's wife, feels she has never received the recognition she deserves. By her side, Roxie Hart dreams of achieving the same fame. When Roxie discovers that her husband, Vito, has grown dangerously close to her own sister, Romie, Velma suggests a radical solution: if Roxie wants to become as famous as she is, why not follow exactly the same path? As romantic rivalries, betrayals, ambition and power struggles unfold, alliances are forged and broken. While Madame Fernand fights to regain control of the organisation, Velma quietly prepares her own rise to the top. The story reaches its climax in the dazzling world of Chicago, where Roxie and Velma finally find themselves together under the spotlight, leaving behind them a trail of bodies and plenty of chaos. An explosive comedy blending theatre, music, dark humour and cult-classic references, where everyone is determined to claim their place... even if it means eliminating anyone who stands in their way.
