ACT'IN THEATRE
Founded in London in 2015 by Candice Desmet, Act’in Theatre is a place for creativity, expression, and sharing.
We offer weekly workshops in theatre, improvisation, and cinema, in both French and English, for children and adults alike. Each class is a space to play, laugh, grow, and build confidence.
Over the years, Act’in has grown into a true bilingual artistic community, bringing together many students each season for shows, festivals, workshops, and friendly events.
With Act’in Theatre, the stage doesn’t end at the theatre:
through our online courses and videos, we bring the passion for theatre into your home, and beyond borders.
Act’in Theatre is the art of taking play seriously… without ever taking yourself too seriously.
so DARE!
Our story
Act’in Theatre was founded in 2015 with the mission of fostering creativity and self-expression through the performing arts.
The adventure began with a small group of three passionate students, eager to explore the transformative power of theatre.
Over the years, we have grown into a dynamic community that values innovation and collaboration.
Based at Old Paradise Yard for many years, Act’in Theatre was unfairly evicted in 2023. Together with the Save Waterloo Paradise collective, we continue to campaign to protect this space and ensure its survival.
Our larger studios now welcome you at 82 Southwark Bridge Road.
Let’s continue to write this story together…
Our mission
At Act’in Theatre, we deeply believe in the power of storytelling: a story can bring people together, awaken emotions, and open up new horizons.
For us, theatre, improvisation, and cinema are powerful ways to build connections, spark reflection, and inspire change.
Our mission is to create a vibrant and inclusive space where everyone, artists, students, and audience members alike, can explore new ideas, question established norms, and find their own voice. We encourage both personal and collective expression, cultural exchange, and the celebration of diversity in all its forms.
Through our workshops, bilingual performances, festivals, and online courses, we aim to offer artistic experiences that transform, liberate, and bring people together.
Because for us, theatre isn’t confined to the stage: it is a force for sharing and growth, capable of nurturing creativity and confidence in everyday life.
Act’in Theatre is the art of revealing each individual and building together a world that is more open, more empathetic, and more human.
