This performance was created in 2024 and first performed in London on 22 February 2024 at the Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club Restaurant by the company Act’in Theatre. Everyone is familiar with the dramatic form of tragedy. Originating in Ancient Greece, it is characterised by the seriousness of its language and by a storyline leading to a fatal outcome for one or more of its characters. We invite you to (re)discover this genre in its most noble form: human relationships. Fraternal love and social status, jealousy and destruction, as well as loneliness and despair — come and discover or rediscover tragic texts with devastating endings, performed by Act’in Theatre students and directed by Candice Desmet. But tragedy is not only reserved for the Greeks or modern literature! In the second half of the evening, join our energetic improvisers for an improvisation cabaret that will bring colour to all this tragedy! A series of playful and good-humoured sketches, all created with the participation of the audience!
