The show

This immersive performance was created and first performed on 24 March 2024 at Saint John’s Church, Waterloo, in London, by the company Act’in Theatre. On this Sunday 24 March, Act’in Theatre and its The Gueules de Bois troupe created a very special evening in an entirely new format. 20 actors, 4 rooms, 6 short scenes: an immersive theatre experience performed in French, right in the heart of London! The audience was invited to choose their own journey, moving from one room to another, guided by the performances of the actors and actresses. A “poor woman” can be a person in need or, in a more derogatory sense, someone with a narrow mind... But ultimately, what does it truly mean to be a poor woman? Will she be a sister, a wife, a mother, a woman hopelessly in love, a Mayor, a candidate for Mayor, an administrative assistant, a counsellor or a social worker? Form your own opinion and come and meet your own versions of these “poor women”. Sincere, touching or downright infuriating characters, brought to life in original short scenes written by Candice Desmet. More than just a theatre evening, Act’in and Les Gueules de Bois invited audiences to experience something truly immersive. A wonderful evening, with the opportunity to enjoy drinks and snacks during the performance!
