Performed on 5 November 2019, “The Slippage” brings together several scenes from very different worlds, all connected by the same phenomenon: the moment when an apparently ordinary situation gradually spirals out of control. A simple English lesson turns into an explosive confrontation between a teacher at the end of his tether and a particularly unpredictable student. In The Dinner of Fools, a phone conversation meant to resolve a romantic problem spirals into a series of blunders and misunderstandings. With Macbeth, the loss of a family leads to a darker and more tragic form of derailment, as grief turns into a desire for revenge. Finally, in No Trifling with Love, Perdican and Camille clash over their beliefs, their wounds and their fear of love, until their emotions take over. From comedy to drama, from laughter to anger, from the absurd to heartbreak, The Slip-Up explores those moments when a single word, a revelation or an emotion is enough to send a situation off course. A production bringing together contemporary and classical texts, united to show that, whatever the era, human relationships have always had the power to make us lose control. The performance continued with an improvisation cabaret by the Improzac, inviting the audience to step into the madness of play and spontaneity themselves.
