This performance was created and first performed on 29 June 2025 in the salons of the Institut Français du Royaume-Uni in London by Act’in Theatre’s young performers. Presented as the P’tits Act’ end-of-year showcase, this afternoon brought together the students from the South Kensington and Kentish Town theatre, improvisation and cinema workshops, celebrating everything they had achieved throughout the year. The first half featured “The Spell”, an original play written and directed by Candice Desmet. In an enchanted kingdom, a kind-hearted queen sees her peaceful realm thrown into chaos when a jealous magician transforms several of its inhabitants into animals. Blending humour, magic and adventure, the young performers brought to life a tale celebrating courage, friendship and solidarity. The afternoon continued with an improvisation match performed by Les Éclairs de Génie troupe, in which the young improvisers created original scenes inspired by the audience’s suggestions, showcasing their creativity and spontaneity. Finally, the audience discovered “Precious Freedom”, a short film conceived, performed and filmed by the students of the film workshop under the direction of Candice Desmet. The project explored the themes of freedom, commitment and standing up for one's beliefs with sensitivity and insight. This performance marked the conclusion of a year filled with artistic discovery, learning and creativity.
