Performed on 6 February 2019, “Rediscover Classical Plays” takes the audience on a journey through great works from the theatrical and literary canon, brought together around a common theme: human relationships, love and marriage in all their forms. From the birth of a relationship to the first declaration of love, from doubts before making a commitment to marriage, and then to the disappointments and conflicts of life as a couple, the production explores the different stages of romantic relationships with humour, irony and, at times, a touch of seriousness. On stage, audiences encounter works such as The Bourgeois Gentleman, Don Juan, The Marriage of Figaro, The Doctor in Spite of Himself, Antigone and The Assembly of Women, alongside other classical texts. Different worlds, eras and styles come together in a dialogue that shows that, despite the passing of centuries, the great questions of human nature remain remarkably relevant today. A lively and accessible way to rediscover the classics, allowing them to resonate in a new light and reminding us that behind the costumes, the old-fashioned language and the great works of literature, there are always deeply contemporary emotions.
