Illusions / IN’TERVAL#5

Our show:

This show was created and produced for the first time at the Toulouse-Lautrec Jazz Club in London on the 6th February 2025 by Act’in Theatre.

Step into the golden age of the circus, where nothing is as it seems…
IN’TERVAL’#5 – ILLUSIONS is a spellbinding drama show set in the world of Barnum-era spectacle, where illusionists, acrobats and ringmaster blur the lines between truth and deception. Illusions aren’t just tricks—they’re the lies we believe, the truths we ignore, and the perceptions that shape our world. As the performers lose themselves in their acts, the audience is drawn into a haunting question: what is real, and what is merely illusion? This evocative storytelling will leave you questioning reality.

In the second half of the evening, it’s time for long-form improvisation! The Parentheticals troupe took us  into their zany world, dictated by suggestions from the audience: a quest for a hat in a maternity yard! Absurd, subtle, and sharp humour from two creative improvisers!

Written and directed by Candice Desmet.
