Pauvre Homme (‘Poor Man’) / SHOW

Our show:

This show was created and performed for the first time on 2nd May 2025 at the Courtyard Theatre in London by Act’in Theatre.

It’s the long-awaited evening of the great premiere of ‘Pauvre Homme’. Everything is ready… But disaster strikes! All of the actors are stuck in bed, unable to perform on stage. A cancellation seems like the only way out…

However, in the shadows on the projectors, a handful of people are refusing to leave the curtain shut, and decide to save the show by going on stage themselves.

Clumsy, improvising sentences they haven’t learned, reinterpreting the roles their own way, they try as best as possible to give life to the play. Under the despaired supervision of the stage director, the show takes an unexpected turn, oscillating between disaster and genius.

In this immersive experience where the public is complicit of this absurd attempt, a question hovers: can the magic of the show operate, even when everything is falling appart?

Written and directed by Candice Desmet.
